Not Throwing Away Our Shot at the Podium’s Director’s Club: Hamilton Review

The first week of October rolled around, and you know what that means—Hamilton finally hit the big screen! As a self-confessed theater junkie, I would not be throwing away my shot (Hamilton intended *wink wink*). My partner and I were so hyped that we booked tickets right away. The only screening we could grab was the 8 p.m. show at The Podium, and it turned out to be a great choice.

Comfort, Class, and Cinema Done Right

It was our first time trying The Podium’s Director’s Club Cinema, and honestly, we were curious to see if it lived up to the hype. I’ve always heard it’s on the pricier side (₱600 per ticket!), so we usually just stick to regular cinemas. But this time, we thought, why not? It comes with free popcorn and bottled water anyway, so that’s a nice start.

The moment we settled into our seats, we knew this was going to be a different kind of movie night. The Director’s Club is designed for comfort, and it really shows. Each seat is a plush Lazy Boy recliner, which you can adjust with a button and lift your feet with ease.

Is the Director’s Club worth it? Spoiler alert: One BIG yes.

The rows are well spaced, too, so you won’t have to worry about bumping knees or blocking someone’s view. I also found it funny how you could occasionally hear the soft squeak of leather whenever someone adjusted their seat during a quiet scene.

Then the movie started… and wow, the Dolby Atmos surround sound really sealed the deal. You can feel every beat of the music, every stomp, every line of dialogue echoing perfectly around the room. It felt like the whole cinema was alive, pulling us right into the world of Hamilton

The space feels super private and exclusive. It never felt crowded, even though it was almost full. The atmosphere was relaxed and cozy, like watching a movie from your own home theater, but with better sound and a giant screen.

During the film’s 10-minute intermission. Everyone was glued to their seats, enjoying their free popcorn and drinks!

Director’s Club also has an in-house butler service. Every seat has a little call button, so if you want more popcorn, drinks, or even a cup of coffee. However, we didn’t take advantage of this because we were already satisfied with our popcorn and water.

₱600 A Ticket? Totally Worth Every Peso!

Overall, the Director’s Club at The Podium is perfect if you’re looking for a more comfortable, pampered movie experience. Sure, it’s a little pricier than your regular cinema ticket, but with the recliners, personal service, and cozy setup, it feels totally worth it, especially for a date night or a long-awaited movie premiere. I would rate this experience a 4.5 out of 5!

Would I go again? Absolutely. In fact, I’m already checking what’s showing next. If you haven’t tried it yet, treat yourself to it. The Director’s Club Cinema is located at the 5/F The Podium, ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City. It’s one of those experiences that makes you wonder why you ever settled for less.
